I fixed my chronic back pain without medication or physical therapy

Samantha Valencia was only a few months away from walking through a row two years ago when the unbearable back pain that had interrupted her life began to protect her ugly head again.

The 31-year-old owner of the Yoga studio from Brooklyn and her husband would soon have made all preparations for a destination wedding in California, when a well-known, unwanted sensation crawls back into her body.

“I was getting married that year, so I was doing all the classes. I was going to a gym with a friend and weightlifting … and, you know, making sure I looked the best in my wedding dress, as brides do,” Valencia Post told.

“And I got up very heavy in the gym and I was going too much, not giving myself time to recover, and I activated that old injury.”

For 13 years, Valencia had been dealing with the back of a broken pelvis, two broken beads and two broken ribs she suffered while in the summer dance camp between her early years and her college years.

“I made rest by dancing a lot of literally,” she said.

Valencia, who danced by growing professionally until she enrolled at a university, was always one to get a challenge.

“It was this action where I had to put all my weight on one side,” she recalled. “It was essentially a single hand with arm. It’s the best way to explain it. And my arm gave me, and I went down to my chest and my legs tapped on the back of my head.”

She lay on the ground and thought, “Something is broken.”

“I became scooter at the hospital at nowhere Connecticut, and they’re like ‘Yes, you broke some things. You’re done,” she said.

“It ended my dance career … But every time that damage would light.”

Soon forward to 2023. With the pain that reappears as her wedding approached, Valencia was desperate for a solution that would not bypass her big day.

It tried everything – physical therapy, acupuncture, ultrasound, stretch, cup, heat pack. She even got her grandmother’s residual muscle relaxants. Nothing worked.

This is when she encountered Siobhan Peterson, a local specialist of Brooklyn -based cryotherapy and owner of Spa Recomeie.

“I was moving [on social media]And one of the posts of Siobhan comes out and she is making cryo located in someone’s knee – a runner hurts their knee, “Valencia said.

“And I was like, ‘You’re my last hope. I need help – can you do this for your back?’ And it was like, ‘let’s see what we can do.’ “

Peterson clearly remembered the moment. “I knew that localized cryotherapy would help because before we treated the public, I treated many of my family members and friends and I saw the miracles it made for them,” she said.

“So with the time Sam came across my doors, I was very sure.”

Peterson asked Valencia to engage in a rigorous protocol. “But you have to come every other day for two weeks,” she told him.

For Valencia, it was better than the alternative.

“I was getting MRI, cat scans and they were like,” we can simply have to get inside and do exploratory operations on your back, “and I was like,” no, “she said.

Peterson says local cryotherapy developed exactly for cases like this.

“Local cryotherapy is amazing for people like samantha who fight with chronic pain because it helps to target the source of pain while greatly reduces inflammation,” she said.

“Also, many people who are chronically inflamed or suffering painfully are told that their only options are surgery or pain medication, and often, those medicines can become addicted. Local Cryotherapy is a healthy and non-invasive alternative.”

Unlike full -body cryotherapy rooms, local cryotherapy aims specific areas such as knee, spine or shoulder -exposing them to extremely cold temperatures, often starting from -166 ° F and -256 ° F.

The cold rapidly reduces inflammation and promotes healing by stimulating circulation and tightening and then enlargement of blood vessels.

As a non-invasive and drug-free option, it has gained attraction between athletes and chronic pain suffers the same for its ability to relieve discomfort and support healing.

Valencia was soon a believer.

“I torn my meniscus in my knee, and I wasn’t even bothering with physical therapy or nothing. I just came to Siobhan’s right,” she said.

After six weeks of treatment and some basic rehabilitation exercises, she added, “I was fine.”

Peterson has seen cases like this before.

“Last year I was treating an ex -atlet that had so bad pain in my back that it would be in bed for days,” she said.

“Her husband led her to the club to try out local creth. We started doing two sessions a week and now I only see her once a month.”

From a single car operating outside a studio in Dumbo, Peterson’s work has grown to something much larger.

“I’m not surprised by the improvement,” she said. “But to think that we started with our localized car of cryotherapy and now we have a full wellness-red club, sauna, ice baths, compression and all I can say is that I am really grateful.

As for Valencia, she did it at her wedding-walking, dancing and painlessly.
