The suicide of a 26-year-old Pennsylvania police officer on the subsequent effects of folk surgery of Lasik was not an isolated incident, with others saying they left them with agonizing symptoms and changing life, told the post.
LASIK providers say the procedure is 95% to 99% secure, but one survivor by Lasik said she had suicide ideas for two years after her “catastrophic” operation in 2000.
She also claimed that she knew at least 40 people to have taken their lives because they could not get constant problems of pain and vision, developed after the procedure.
“I really didn’t want to stay around, but I decided that I would get the word out how dangerous this operation could be,” said Paula Cfer, 66, from Tampa, Fla.
“The Lasik Lobby and Surgeons will show you only one percent of patients have problems afterwards. This is not true. There are numerous studies that show differently.
“The percentage of those with poor results are in double digits, not one percent. And they know it,” she claimed.
Since Lasik was approved by the 1999 Food and Drug Administration over 10 million people in the US have undergone Lazer Vision Correction, according to Ophthalmology Medical Magazine, which declares between 700,000 and 800,000 people each year.
Kfer runs the Lasik Complication Support Group on Facebook, one of the many organizations on social media that have come up in response to Lasik’s procedures.
“If you understand Lasik and what makes your eyes and cornea, you realize that you can’t do it with a healthy eye and not expect complications,” Cofer said.

“Not everyone has severe complications, but many more people suffer from as you know. I have taken floating, heavy dry eyes, causing astigmatism and severe nightly vision problems,” Kofer said.
Ryan Kingerski, 26, a policeman who died suicide after receiving a break from the Penn Hills Police Department in Allegheny District, Penn. Last August to subjugate Lasik – had similar symptoms.
His sad parents, my and Stefanie Kingerski, told CBS News this week about the hell their son passed after the procedure.
Kingerskis said Ryan began to suffer from headaches, double vision, seeing dark and navigators-plices that appear as strips or similar cobblestone shapes in a person’s eyesight, they said.
Ryan’s parents told a story similar to that of Detroit TV meteorologist Jessica Starr, Dan Rose, who said she took her life after fighting with severe eyes and visual eye -catching problems.
The 35-year-old mother was hanged on December 12, 2018, just two months after being subjected to Lasik to correct her vision.
“Before the procedure, Jessica was completely normal, very healthy,” Rose WJBK told in 2019. “There was no depression … no fundamental matter.”
Rose said his wife left behind a 30 -page suicide note and video, which made the decision to end her life because of the election operation.
Morris Waxler, now 89, was an FDA adviser who led the responsible branch for reviewing LASIK data between 1996 and 2000, which covers the period that was adopted.
It is a decision he said to the post that he regrets – and has spoken publicly about the dangers of LASIK since 2010.
“It didn’t matter what questions and concerns I had because the surgeons were very powerful and they are still,” he said.
Waxler previously told CBS in 2019, his industry data analysis showed complications levels between 10% and 30%, and in 2011, he applied for FDA to issue a volunteer LaSik withdrawal.
“People come in with healthy eyes and all they need is glasses. But when surgeons cut cornea, they are removing nerves and leaving cornea with strange forms and some patients will have interactive pain,” he added.
FDA warns on its website that there are risks to pass Lesik including loss of vision, brightness, halos, and/or double vision and “poor visual symptoms”.
However, the American Council of Refractive Surgery says on its website: “Lasik is safe and is one of the most studied procedures with surgical choice today … The degree of dangerous vision complications from Lasik eye surgery is estimated to be far below one percent.”
Abraham Rutner, 43, an electrician in Brooklyn, had hope after his failed operation in Lasik five years ago.
“Likes as if you had an oil layer on top of your eye – it was so hazy and terrible,” Rutner The Post told. “I couldn’t work. I couldn’t drive. I felt like I was still young and lost my life.”
Then he heard about 84-year-old Edward Bosnick, an eye doctor in Miami, whose optometric practice is dedicated to restoring vision and lost comfort due to a variety of eye and operations conditions, including Lasik, Keratoconus and cornea trauma.
Dr. Bbesick, whose website is called Eyefreedom, equipped Rutner with something called a scleral lens that fits over Lasik damaged cornea. Paula Cfer also said she was equipped with lenses, which has helped her as well.
Bosnick told the post “everyone has different problems when it comes to Lasik, and called it a” BS procedure “.
“It is the biggest fraud ever placed in the American public,” he said. “And it’s a multi -billion dollar business.”
