Since we take prescription medicines to feel better, it is alarming to think that some ordinary can make you more ill.
But this is exactly what a new shocking study from Norway has discovered.
“We have found a startling and potentially serious side effect of a class of anti-inflammatory drugs. They can help viruses spread more easily in the body, said Denis Kainov, a professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), said in a press release.

Janus Kinase inhibitors – also known as Jaks – are usually prescribed for autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. You can know them with the names of their brands, such as Xeljanz, Olumiant and Rinvoq.
But while they can relieve inflammatory conditions, it seems that they can also ignite your chances to catch a bad mistake.
â € Premong viruses that most easily affect the body with the help of these medicines are the Rift Valley Fever, Flu A, Adenovirus and SARS-COV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, Kainov said.
Kainov and his team found that these medicines can suppress interferon -stimulated genes, which play a crucial role in responding to the body to viral infections, thus facilitating the spread of viruses.
Therefore, they encourage medical professionals to be careful when prescribing these medicines for patients who may be at risk.

“We recommend further studies to better understand how medicines can be used optimally, especially during outbreaks of viruses or pandemics,” said Alexandr Ianevski, an NTNU researcher.
Jaks are not the only class of medication to make titles recently for some unpleasant side effects.
Other common drugs, such as statins – which are intended to lower cholesterol – and certain medicines for high blood pressure are also implicated in exposing patients at a higher risk of infection.
In a somewhat strange turn, reports examined by the BBC suggest some common medicines that are intended to treat Parkinson’s movement disorders and others have led people into deviant sexual behavior.
And the FDA recently issued a warning about the general versions of a widely used hair loss-finasteride-often distributed by well-known telecommunications brands like hypers and holds, as dozens of users reported sexual dysfunction, brain fog and suicidal thoughts.
