Mother shares terrible, intrusive thoughts as a parent

We have a lot to think about as parents.

From the assessments of the tog to the sleeping sacks to the weekend sports schedules and remembering to reserve that delayed dentist appointment, our brains are constantly cheating.

Yes to the thoughts we not plan for? Those intruders who steal without warning?

One mother recently took on Tiktok to share an intruder that many parents have, but few admit aloud.

“If I were to die in this house would now be a few hours until someone discovered”

Sami, a mother of two, writes “Tell me I’m not the only one” in her video.

She explains that her two -year -old son is “somewhat independent”.

“But I know if I liked Drop Dead, he would need a lot of help,” she revealed.

It is a scary mental spiral, but what visits it more often than it would like.

“Sometimes I get in these models of thought where I am like, you know what, if I died in this house now, it would be a few hours until someone discovered,” she shared.

So she plans for her.

“I will do things like leaving his water bottle in the chair right there so he can reach it if he is thirsty and I have died,” she explained.

“Or sometimes I will decide as a snack in this counter, but exactly on its edge, just if I die and he becomes hungry before someone finds it.”

She says her son already knows how to use the refrigerator water distributor.

Normally, he is not allowed to use it because water goes anywhere, but Sami made sure he could be in an emergency.

“In my mind, I was like, that’s in case I die and you have to get your water,” she said.

“When you become a mother, the fear of death is true.”

Commentators in her video were quick to connect.

“Indeed the invisible load of motherhood here,” writes one person.

“I give my son a kiss and I tell him I love him every time I put him in the car seat, if we get into a car accident and it is my last time to kiss and say,” another mother shared.

“When you become a mother, the fear of death is true,” a third added.

Sami now knows that she is far alone.

“Each of my interventional thoughts as a mother has been from another mother,” she understands.

In fact, more than 80% of the expected and young parents experience intervening opinions, according to Gidget Foundation Australia.

“They can make the expected parents and young people feel like they are going crazy, but they are not,” the organization explains.

Gidget health professionals recommend that when an intruders arise, parents should label it as “intruders”, remind themselves that they are not the ones who are and allow the time to spend.
