Your tie can try to tell you something, and it’s not just that your jeans are very tight.
“The skin of the vulvar is not fragile-is responsible,” The Post told The Post Keira Barry, a dermatologist certified by the board working with the plum vagiceuticals. “When it is inflamed, irritated or dry, this is not a flaw. It is a signal from your nervous system that something deeper needs attention.”
However, Barry said that vulvar skin problems are often treated as cosmetic, worse, “fired, poorly diagnosed or internal as something that women should do alone”.
That kind of neglect can let women feel ashamed, uncomfortable and detached from their bodies – which, said Barry, only makes the skin more sensitive to stress.
“The nervous system becomes hyper -Alarm, the skin barrier weakens and the cycle continues,” she explained.
To break that cycle, Barry highlighted three conditions of vulvar skin that many women have not heard, so you don’t have to suffer quietly.
#1: Lichen Sclerosus
This chronic inflammatory condition causes discolored, delightful and diluted skin in the genitals, often leading to tearing, itching or burning, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Lichen sclerosus can make sex movements, urination or painful intestine. If left untreated, it can even increase the risk of vulvary squamous cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer.
Scientists still do not know what causes it, but it is not contagious. While one can get it, women and girls after menopause who have not hit puberty are at a higher risk.
Your chances of developing liqueur sclerosus can also increase if you have an autoimmune, allergy, diabetes or body mass (BMI) disease over 30.
#2: Lichen Simplex Chronicus
This condition is driven by chronic chronic, for which the burden said is often associated with stress, anxiety or other psychiatric conditions. Skin and irritable allergies can also cause it.
All that scratch thickening the skin – and the thicker it becomes, itching becomes. This begins a bad cycle of itching, according to the Katz Institute of Northwell Health for women’s health.
The vulvar skin can become skin and turn red or purple as a result. Continuous scratch can lead to pain, tears, crying and a white adhesive discharge.
Breaking the cycle is the main purpose of treatment. This means the treatment of the root cause, either through support of mental health as cognitive behavioral therapy or current treatments to reduce inflammation and itching.
#3 Contact Dermatitis
This itching rashes are inflamed when the skin touches something that irritates it or causes an allergic reaction, according to the Mayo Clinic.
In the vulva, Barry said ordinary culprits are laundry cleaners, menstrual pads and hygiene products.
When redness affects black or brown skin, it often appears as dark, leather patches. On white skin, it can look dry, cracked or scaly. It can also cause bumps, bladder, swelling, burning and pain – especially during sex or while inserting a buffer.
Good news: Contact dermatitis is usually cleaned on its own after the irritant is gone and the skin has time to heal.
Mild cases can be faded per day or week. More stubborn can last longer and need recipe cream as topical steroids to soothe inflammation.
