They are in your home products, your beer – and even your drinking water.
Fortunately, a recent study has found a way to get rid of your body from per- and polyphluoroalkil (PFA) substances- commonly known as “permanently” chemicals because of their constant presence in the environment and the human body.
And all you have to do is add some food to your diet.
Study – published in the journal Environment Health – looked at 72 adult men aged 18 to 65, all have detectable levels of chemicals permanently in their blood.
Researchers gave 42 additional men containing one gram of beta-glucan of oat-a soluble fiber found in some foods-three times a day, just before meals, as this is when the body produces more bile.
The other 30 men were awarded a rice -made placebo.
After only four weeks, blood tests showed that the fiber group had a 8% decrease in two of the most dangerous types of PFAA: PFAA (Perfluoroocanic acid) and PFOS (PerfluorooCtansulfonic acid).
These two chemicals are found in drinking water, cosmetics and even in the packaging of food – and both are known to be built in the human body over time.
Researchers tested for 17 different compounds PFAS total. They found that 70% of participants had 11 or more of them in their blood flow, and each single participant had at least five.
While the first landing was modest, experts say it is an important first step – especially after the PFA is extremely difficult to eliminate from the body.
“Despite the increasing concerns for PFA toxicity, specific interventions to reduce the level of PFAS in the body are limited,” the researchers writes.
Beta-glucan is shown to be connected to PFA in the digestive system, which can help you remove them.
High foods in beta-glukan include:
- oat
- barley
- Rye
- Grain
- Shiitake
- Reishi
- Seaweed
- Nourishing yeast
Chemicals permanently-used in everything, from non-soft pan to fast food coils-were associated with cancer, hormone disruption, liver damage and more.
While eliminating PFA exposure can be difficult, dietary choices can help alleviate their harmful impact.
