Food may be fast, but repayment may be slow.
While fast food was once a safe way to get a cheap dining, it is becoming more and more expensive – sometimes costing a good part of your check.
A new Wallethub study determined which countries spend the largest percentage of their income for fast food purchases.
Experts analyzed the prices of fast food burgers, pizza and chicken chicken sandwiches in each country, then added costs together and compared them to average family income.
“Where you live can have a huge impact on how expecting you for fast food,” explained Chip Lupo, a Wallethub analyst. “It costs about 1.6 times more in countries more expensive than the cheaper states, compared to average income.”
People living in Mississippi pay more for fast food when compared to their relative income than anyone else in the country, the analysis revealed.
Buying a fast-food burger, a small pizza and a fried chicken sandwich would cost a 0.47% average monthly income. The state has the lowest average family income in the country by $ 54,915.
However, current fast food prices in Mississippi are ranked as one of the cheapest in the country – but because the average residents’ income is so low, fast food receives a greater proportion of their salaries.
The second most expensive fast food compared to income is in New Mexico. A burger, a small pizza and a friend’s chicken sandwich would also cost them in New Mexico 0.47% of the average monthly profits.
With the sixth lower family income in the country with $ 62,125, fast food prices combined with the low average set New Mexico in second place.
Kentucky loves her fried chicken, but the state ranks as the third most expensive for fast food compared to income.
The state is in the country’s most expensive half for burgers, pizza and chicken sandwiches, and a purchase of one of each costs 0.46% of the average family income. The average annual family profits in Kentucky are $ 62,417.
New York, meanwhile, comes to the 23rd place in the analysis, with the purchase of a burger, pizza and chicken sandwiches in 0.37% of the average monthly income.
Connecticut, New Jersey and Massachusetts were at the bottom of the list, making them all three countries that spend the least on fast food – coming to 48, 49 and 50, respectively.
If you are looking to save money for fast food, experts at Wallethub advise using coupon through fast food chain application, adding fast food to your last budget with your “desires”, not using distribution, joining reward programs, keeping simple orders or eating fast food less frequently.
