FOX host Philadelphia Mike Jerrick detects skin cancer during segment in the air

A Fox TV news anchor revealed this week that he had skin cancer during a direct TV segment.

Mike Jerrick, co-host of “Good Day Philadelphia” on FOX29, was broadcasting a skin care segment with Dr. Joanna Walker, a dermatologist with the Tara Miller Melanoma Center at the University of Pennsylvania.

While discussing the importance of skin checking for cancer signs, Walker inspected a place on the right elbow of Jerrick, uttering that it was basal cell carcinoma, a common type of skin cancer.

“There are all the features of the most common type of skin cancer, which is also very curable when caught early,” Walker said in this segment.

Jerrick expressed a surprise, asking, “What will you do, will you burn it?”

The dermatologist replied that the cancerous site is most likely “cut and sewing”.

The good news, she said, is that the basal cell is a very slow type of skin cancer “that is unlikely to spread anywhere else in the body.

“But you have to remove it so that it does not continue to grow and take over normal skin,” Walker advised.

Jerrick spoke with Fox News Digital about Revelation, pointing out that it was a complete surprise for him.
